Job monitors let you know if a job runs long, ends early, or started late. You simply set the details for each type of monitor, including how to be notified if something happens. Job monitors can be used as prerequisites for reactivity in your event-driven schedule.
In this video, we'll use the Skybot Scheduler job scheduling solution to create a job monitor. Job monitors can help you meet your service level agreements.
To put a job monitor on a job called "Account Month End", right click the job, point to "edit job", and select "edit job monitors". We have three types of job monitors: job overrun, job underrun, and late start. Job overrun can be used with "maximum duration" or "must complete by".
This example shows how to monitor for a job that must complete by 22:00. If the job has not completed by the designated time, you can choose up to three actions. You can send a notification via an SNMP trap, send an email to notify your administrator, or end the job. You can perform any or all of these actions. If a job runs under its normal time, you can send a notification via an SNMP trap, or send an email to your administrator, or both.
This example uses "must start by". If the job does not start by 18:00, you can send a notification via the SNMP trap, send an email to your administrator, or end the job from the job queue. You can perform any or all of these actions.
