When you need a hardware ID

When you run InterMapper, you must have a license key for a particular machine. Normally, when you first launch InterMapper, your hardware ID is provided to HelpSystems automatically when you request a license key. In certain situations, you may need your hardware ID when you install the software.

Use the script available from the download links below to get the hardware ID for the machine you want to run InterMapper on.

To get your hardware ID:

Download

Mac:

  1. Unzip gethardwareid_mac.zip.
  2. Open a terminal window and cd to the directory containing the script.
  3. If necessary, make the resulting shell script executable:
    chmod 755 gethardwareid_mac.sh
  4. Execute the script:
    ./gethardwareid_mac.sh
  5. Hardware IDs appear in the terminal window. Select one or all of the hardware IDs, copy, then paste into an email message, and send it to HelpSystems.

Linux:

  1. Open a terminal window and cd to the directory containing the zip file.
  2. Unzip the file:
    gunzip gethardwareid_linux.zip
  3. If necessary, make the resulting shell script executable:
    chmod 755 gethardwareid_linux.sh
  4. Execute the script:
    ./gethardwareid_linux.sh
  5. Hardware IDs appear in the terminal window. Select one or all of the hardware IDs, copy, then paste into an email message, and send it to HelpSystems.

Windows:

  1. Unzip gethardwareid_win.zip.
  2. Open a terminal window and cd to the directory containing the batch file.
  3. Execute the script:
    ./gethardwareid_win.cmd
  4. After executing the script, your hardware IDs are on the clipboard. Paste them into an email message, and send it to HelpSystems.
