Problem description / Issue description

The following problem has been reported when trying to access WebSmartConsole on the server it was installed, using the server name in the URL instead of the IP address of the machine.

In some cases, the user will not be able to use the product because it will get stuck without chances of log on. In other cases, the user will be able to use WebSmartConsole but will receive the error message when logging out.

The error itself is not critical, at least if it's possible to use the product. Auditory table (tangosecurity) is the only thing it will fail because of this error.

WebsmartConsole either refuses to pass the login screen or shows an error message when trying to logout.

Context information

The present issue has only been reported in Windows 2008 (or higher) environments because they are the only Operating Systems that supports IPv6. By default, Microsoft leave IPv6 enabled as the primary protocol for local connections.

WebSmartConsole only supports IP addresses from IPv4 format. Any attempt to write an IPv6 will cause an error because the field in which the IP is stored only supports IPv4.

In order to fix the problem, the following steps must be done:

  1. Open "Network and Sharing Center"
  2. Go to "Manage network connections"
  3. Look up for the LAN adapter in use
  4. Press right click and open "properties" option
  5. Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
  6. Click OK

WebSmartConsole is supposed to run without problems from now on.
