What to do when the Windows Installer returns an error or hangs:

1. There is a known InstallShield problem when there are older InstallShield common files on the machine where you are installing InterMapper or InterMapper RemoteAccess. This problem usually manifests itself with the message "Error Code: -5009 : 0x8002802b". Delete or rename the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime folder and then re-run the installer.

2. There may be issues with file permissions if you are not running the installer as a full administrator. Make sure you are a member of the administrators group.

3. We've seen the installer hang when a customer has an incomplete download. Please check the file length of the downloaded .exe file.

4. Under rare circumstances, there may be undesirable interactions between the InstallShield installer and an anti-virus utility. If all else fails, try turning off your anti-virus software.
