Bytware provides a Sequel dashboard that allows you to display information from the Messenger products. If you use both Sequel data access and analysis software and Messenger, you can download this dashboard and use it to see a high-level overview of your system events and to drill down to more detailed information.

You can use the downloaded dashboard as a starting point to develop your own customized views that fit your requirements.

Requirements

  • OS V5R4 or higher.

  • MessengerConsole or MessengerPlus, version 5.60 or higher.

  • Sequel 10 or higher, and Sequel Viewpoint 10.11.179 or higher.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the zip file containing the dashboard save file (BYTSEQEX) to your PC. Current users can access the download from the My Downloads page. If you're a new user, you should have received an email message containing the download link. If you don't have it, contact your Bytware Regional Manager.

  2. Unzip the file to C:\TEMP.

  3. On your IBM i, enter the following command:

    CRTSAVF QGPL/BYTSEQEX

  4. On your PC, click Start/Run and enter the following:

    FTPsysname

where sysname is the name or TCP/IP address of your IBM i.

  5. In the FTP window, enter your IBM i user ID and password when prompted. Then, enter the following commands:

    BIN

    PUT C:\TEMP\BYTSEQEX QGPL/BYTSEQEX

  6. On an IBM i command line, enter the following command to restore the dashboard library:

    RSTLIB SAVLIB(BYTSEQEX) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/BYTSEQEX)

The Viewpoint views and dashboard are now available. The views and dashboard are located in the new library, BYTSEQEX.

  7. From Viewpoint, find the BYTSEQEX library:

    1. Right-click the BYTDASH dashboard and go into Properties.

    2. Change the system name from ItsCurrentValue to the name of your IBM i system.

    3. Click OK to save the changes.

    4. Repeat the above steps for the EVENTDASH and PAGERDASH dashboards.
