This article applies to BoKS Manager 7.1 (HFBM-0194) and 7.0 (HFBM-0207)

The network port range used for BoKS host-to-host communication can be configured via the host network service lookup function and/or the BoKS ENV BRIDGE_DOMAIN variable, see man page ENV(4). The revised Replica load-balancing function in BoKS 7.1 introduced a range limit of 0-9 to the BRIDGE_DOMAIN ENV variable. This is an unnecessarily strict limit as the BoKS bridge communication will work as long as the resulting port range is below the upper limit for IP network ports (65535).

Note: HFBM-0207 is only necessary for BoKS v7.0 if the hotfix for load balancing, HFBM-0192, is installed.

Resolution / Workaround

This issue can be resolved by downloading and installing hotfix HFBM-0194 / HFBM-0207, available from the HelpSystems Community Portal.

Alt 1. Apply this hotfix which extends the upper limit for the BRIDGE_DOMAIN variable to:

bridge_domain < (65525 - network_service_baseport)/10

Alt 2. Configure the BoKS domain base port via the network service lookup function. (/etc/services if local lookup is used).
