This article applies to BoKS Manager 6.7.0, 6.7.1 and 7.0.0.
For performance reasons, the BoKS Master tries to send out database updates to Replicas in batches. The queue for this contains both database updates for Replicas and other messages for Clients. The Master (via boks_drainmast) sends a batch of database updates when enough updates are collected, when there are no more updates, or when a message meant for a Server Agent is discovered. Some BoKS usage patterns cause the queue to contain very few consecutive database updates, making the batches very small, and consequently causing replication performance to suffer. This can cause the queue to grow, leading to problems as updates do not reach Replicas and Server Agents in time.
Resolution / Workaround
To resolve these issues, apply hotfix HFBM-0168 (BoKS 7.0) or HFBM-0169 (BoKS 6.7), available for download from the HelpSystems Community Portal.
This hotfix updates boks_drainmast to send out larger batches, even when the database updates are interleaved with Server Agent messages, greatly improving performance under such circumstances.
