This article applies to BoKS Manager 6.7.0, 6.7.1 and 7.0.0.
The boks_udsqd daemon handles distribution of messages from BoKS bridge daemons to internal service daemons such as boks_master and boks_servc. The boks_udsqd daemon uses the select(2) function to monitor activity on file descriptors. The maximum file descriptor value that can be handled by the select(2) function is limited to 1024 on most UNIX/Linux systems, thus limiting the number of simultaneous connections that boks_udsqd can handle. This can be a problem on the BoKS Master and Replicas in very large BoKS domains.
Resolution / Workaround
Apply hotfix HFBM-0115 (BoKS 6.7) or HFBM-0116 (BoKS 7.0). These are available for download from the HelpSystems Community Portal.
These hotfixes include an updated boks_udsqd daemon that uses the poll(2) function instead of select(2). poll(2) doesn't have a hard limit for file descriptor value.
