adjoin adj_set_principal: Cannot assign Service Principal Name "host/". LADP Error: Constraint violation

or

adjoin: constraint violation

LDAP problem is related to: using hostname: .
OpenLDAP routing returned error code

Resolution / Workaround

The problem here is that adjoin is having trouble resolving the FQDN of the host attempting to join the domain.

Better handling of this condition has been introduced in hotfix HFBM-0037 for BoKS version 6.7.0. The fix will be included in later versions of BoKS. The hotfix is available for download from the HelpSystems Community Portal.

The condition can be worked-around by using the "-h" option with the adjoin command. This option allows you to specify, as part of the adjoin command, the FQDN of the host joining the domain.
