On Red Hat Linux 5 remote sessions may stop responding due to a problem with signal handlers
The BoKS PAM module changes some signal handlers while it is executing, but did not always restore the signal handlers when relinquishing control to the calling application. This resulted in the GDM keepalive ping causing remote sessions to crash because the expected signal handler is not in place.
Resolution / Workaround
Install the hotfix HFBM-0017 from the HelpSystems Community Portal.
This hotfix includes an updated PAM module which saves / restores the signal handler configuration on entry / exit.
Note that this hotfix is also applicable for Red Hat Linux 6, as the issue with the signal handlers also exists on Red Hat Linux 6, even though the remote sessions problem does not appear to exist on this platform.
Alternatively, this issue can also be fixed by upgrading to BoKS Manager / BoKS Server Agent for Unix / Linux 6.7.
