BoKS does not work by default on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or 7 system when SELinux is enabled.
On a host running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or 7, you have to deactivate SELinux, which is activated by default, before you install BoKS, and you cannot have SELinux activated while BoKS is installed on the host.
Note that this issue also applies to hosts running Oracle Enterprise Linux 6/7 and CentOS 6/7.
Resolution / Workaround
BoKS Manager hotfix HFBM-0038-1-B, which is available for download from the HelpSystems Community Portal, adds support for SELinux to function with BoKS installed on a RHEL 6/7 host (or Oracle Enterprise Linux 6/7 / CentOS 6/7).
For details of the scope of SELinux support included in the hotfix, see the hotfix README.
For existing installations of BoKS Manager / BoKS Server Agent for Unix/Linux 6.7, apply the hotfix then activate SELinux.
Note that if you are installing this hotfix as part of an upgrade to BoKS Manager / BoKS Server Agent for Unix/Linux 6.7, or a new installation of version 6.7, you must first install BoKS, then apply the hotfix before you run BoKS setup, otherwise the setup will fail if SELinux is activated.
Note that this issue also affects:
Note that revision -B of the hotfix adds support for RHEL 7 (and Oracle Enterprise Linux 7 / CentOS 7). Please see the README for installation instructions as they are different between RHEL 6 and RHEL 7.
