Summary

To help troubleshooting, it is possible to increase the log level of BoKS Control Center (BCC). The information in this article applies to version 6.7 and later.

 

The default levels of AppcontrolLogging.xml should only be changed at the initiative of and by following the instructions from HelpSystems Customer Support.

Note: Activating debug generates large logs which may include sensitive information, such as passwords. This should only be done temporarily and under supervision.




Procedure


1. Debug the Admin Server on the Master:

# bdebug bccasd -x9 -f /tmp/bccasd.out 
 
2. On the Presentation server:
 
Debugging can be turned on in the /etc/opt/bccps/AppcontrolLogging.xml file.
To do this, find the following section in the end of the file:
 


 
 


 
To activate debugging, change the level value from “info” to “debug”:

3. Restart the BoKS Control Center Presentation Server:
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
# /etc/init.d/bccps stop
# /etc/init.d/bccps start
 
On Oracle Solaris:
# svcadm enable bccps
# svcadm disable bccps
 
Debug information is written to /var/opt/bccps/log/bcc.log.
 
 
4. Recreate the problem
 

5. Disable debug on the Master:
# bdebug bccasd -x0 
 
6. Disable debug on the Presentation server:
Change "debug" back to "info" in /etc/opt/bccps/AppcontrolLogging.xml:
 


 
 


 
7. Restart the BoKS Control Center Presentation Server:
 
 
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
# /etc/init.d/bccps stop
# /etc/init.d/bccps start
 
On Oracle Solaris:
# svcadm enable bccps
# svcadm disable bccps
