When troubleshooting a command line operation it sometimes becomes necessary to do both a debug and strace in order to see what is happening.

Most BoKS commands take the -x option to render a debug output and -x9 is usually the preferred debug level.

The recommended command line usage would thus be the following:

strace -f -tt -o /tmp/tracefile boks command -x9 > /tmp/debugfile 2>&1

For example:

strace -f -tt -o /tmp/tracefile lsbks -x9 -f -l bokshost:foo > /tmp/debugfile 2>&1
