BoKS Reporting Manager 6.7 includes JRE 6 (update 21) in the installation. Below are instructions for how to replace the current BRM JRE with the latest JRE from Oracle.

  1. Stop Reporting Manager.
  2. Download the latest 32 bit (i586) Java Runtime (JRE) from Oracle and unpack to a directory of your choice, for example /opt/java. Note that it's important that you install the 32 bit JRE even though you are running on a 64 bit server.
  3. Download "Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files for JDK/JRE" for the JRE version you installed in the first step from Oracle. Apply it to the JRE installation by following the instructions from Oracle. This is required to be able to use encryption keys longer than 128 bits.
  4. Replace the BRM original JRE with the following steps (as brmadmin user):
    $ cd /opt/boksbrm/brm$ rm -rf jre$ mkdir jre$ cd jre$ ln -s /opt/java/jre1.8.0_25 jre$ ln -s jre/bin

    When listing the files you should see the following output

    $ ls -l /opt/boksbrm/brm/jretotal 0lrwxrwxrwx 1 brmadmin dev  7 Nov 24 12:40 bin -> jre/binlrwxrwxrwx 1 brmadmin dev 21 Nov 24 12:40 jre -> /opt/java/jre1.8.0_25

  5. Start Reporting Manager.
