If your organization uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet, Insite's Deployment Manager may not be able to contact HelpSystems' servers in order to download products and updates, or manage licensing, and attempting to do so will result in the error "Error retrieving current product list." If you get this error while attempting to use the Deployment Manager with a proxy server, do the following (Linux only) to allow your Insite installation to connect to HelpSystems' servers:

  1.  Open the file "setenv.sh". On Linux, for a Root installation, this file is located at /opt/insite/server/bin/setenv.sh. For a Linux User installation, this file is located at [user home]/insite/server/bin/setenv.sh.
  2. Change the following line:

    JAVA_OPTS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Xms256m -Xmx2048m -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -Dhelpsystems.module.dir=./webapps/insite/WEB-INF/lib -Dbypass.module.cl=true -DnativeSz.location=bin -Dcom.ibm.as400.access.AS400.guiAvailable=false"

    to

    JAVA_OPTS="-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Xms256m -Xmx2048m -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -Dhttps.proxyHost=[proxy DNS or IP] -Dhttps.proxyPort=[proxy port] -Dhttp.proxyHost=[proxy DNS or IP] -Dhttp.proxyPort=[proxy port] -Dhelpsystems.module.dir=./webapps/insite/WEB-INF/lib -Dbypass.module.cl=true -DnativeSz.location=bin -Dcom.ibm.as400.access.AS400.guiAvailable=false"

    replacing the server DNS and Port values with your own.

  3. Restart the HelpSystems Insite service.
