Important Updates to Cybersecurity Software

HelpSystems is updating the names of our cybersecurity software, including the Powertech product line. Don’t worry—the functionality of your products won’t change.

See the new names here > New, Clearer Names for HelpSystems Security Software.

In addition to journaling with both Before and After images, DataThread also supports journaling when only the After image of a change is captured. (Some high availability systems are configured for only the After image.) However, this setup has some limitations within DataThread. Since both images are not captured, DataThread cannot readily determine whether data in a particular field has changed.

This disables some of the more advanced workflow features and prevents capture of record deletes. In this specific condition, a combination of triggers and journals can be used to reach the desired results.

DataThread supports the use of journaling from either an existing journal or the DataThread journal shipped with the product.

To capture the data with after-only images using ‘D’ (DataThread Journal DTJOURNAL) you must setup the file to be monitored using Option 11 within DataThread and select ‘D’ .

Then, physically change the journaled object using the CHGJRNOBJ command
