Powertech Exit Point Manager 7 (EPM) is tied to Powertech Central Administration. Moving the EPM 7 library will also require moving the Central Administration library.

Note: If Powertech Identity Manager is installed on either the source or the target system, do not use the instructions listed here - instead contact Powertech Support for further instructions.

The EPM installer used for the target system must be the same as the one installed on the source system. Only by installation will the non-library objects (commands, profiles, AUTL and exit points) be created on target system.

If a Manager-Endpoint configuration is used, the original source system will require it to be decommissioned, or if it is to remain in use, EPM and Central Administration will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled, which removes any previously existing configuration.

On the Source system:

  1. Create a save file for each of the EPM and Central Admin Libraries.
  2. Suggested commands to create save files:

    CRTSAVF QGPL/PTNSLIB7

    CRTSAVF QGPL/PTPLLIB7

  3. End the EPM and Central Administration monitor jobs with the following commands:

Note: It is not required but without ending these jobs, the following library saves can take additional time to complete.

    PTNSLIB07/LENDCAPSUM

    PTNSLIB07/PNSENDMON

    PTNSLIB07/PNSENDDASH

    PTPLLIB/PPLENDMON

  4. Save the libraries PTNSLIB07 (EPM) and PTPLLIB (Central Administration).

Suggested commands to save the libraries:

    SAVLIB LIB(PTNSLIB07) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/PTNSLIB7) SAVACT(*LIB) PVTAUT(*YES)

    SAVLIB LIB(PTPLLIB) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/PTPLLIB7) SAVACT(*LIB) PVTAUT(*YES)

  5. When the saves are complete use the following commands:

    PTNSLIB07/LSTRCAPSUM – optional

    PTNSLIB07/PNSSTRDASH - optional

    PTNSLIB07/PNSSTRMON

    PTPLLIB/PPLSTRMON

On the Target System:

  1. Perform a complete EPM 7 product install, which creates the necessary components on the system required for the product to work properly. (DO NOT ACTIVATE the exit programs).
  2. It is also not necessary to add a product license now. This will be after the library restore is done. Be sure to have a license key appropriate for the new system.

PTNSLIB07/LENDCAPSUM - if job PTWRKMGT/ SUMCAPTRAN is running

    PTNSLIB07/PNSENDMON

    PTNSLIB07/PNSENDDASH - if job PTWRKMGT/PNSGMSTR is running

    PTPLLIB/PPLENDMON

  3. Create a save file on the system for the EPM and Central Administration save files you will move from the source system.
  4. Suggested commands to create target system save files:

    CRTSAVF QGPL/PTNSLIB7

    CRTSAVF QGPL/PTPLLIB7

  5. Move the save files from the source system to target system.
  6. Clear the EPM (PTNSLIB07) and Central Admin (PTPLLIB) libraries:

    CLRLIB LIB(PTNSLIB07)

    CLRLIB LIB(PTPLLIB)

  7. Restore the EPM and Central Administration products from the save files you moved from the source system.

    RSTLIB SAVLIB(PTNSLIB07) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/PTNSLIB) PVTAUT(*YES)

    RSTLIB SAVLIB(PTPLLIB) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/PTPLLIB) PVTAUT(*YES)

The system name embedded within the product can optionally be changed using the command PPLCHGSYS.

Example of changing system name HAL9000 to MOTHER:

    PTPLLIB/PPLCHGSYS ID(*NAME) NEWNAME(MOTHER) NAME(HAL9000)

Once the above steps are complete you may License, Activate, and start all required monitor jobs in the normal manner.
