When moving Policy Manager for IBM i to another system, use one of the following methods:

  • Method 1:
    • On the new system, install the most current version of the product.
    • On the new system, import the policies from the old system (using either the SKYVIEWPMP/IMPPOL command or option 61 from the Policy Manager Main Menu)
  • Method 2:
    • Save the SKYVIEWPMD and SKYVIEWPMP libraries from the old system.
    • Restore these to the new system.
    • Install the most current version of the product - running the install process will create the SkyView directories as well as create the SKYVIEWOWN user profile if it does not already exist, and fix ownership of the product, etc. while preserving the templates and policies restored from the old system.
  • Notes:
    • If you want to save any Policy Manager for IBM i PDF or CSV reports, you will need to save those from the /SkyView/Policy Minder directory on the old system and restore them to the same directory on the new system - regardless of the method used to move the product.
    • If the new system has a different serial number, model number, or the system name has changed, you will need a new license key. Contact keys@helpsystems.com for an updated key.
