Before You Install

  1. Confirm that the OS/400 is version V5R1 or above.
  2. iSeries PDF & TIFF Utilities requires the Java Developer Kit (JDK) version 1.4 and the Portable App Solutions Environment (PASE) to be present on your system. To verify that they are installed:
    1. On an iSeries command line, run GO LICPGM, and select option 10. The Display Installed Licensed Programs screen will appear.
    2. The Java Developer Kit will appear as the Licensed Program 5722JV1, with the Description Java Developer Kit 1.4. An installed status of *COMPATIBLE or *INSTALLED is acceptable. Versions 1.5 or 1.6 are acceptable in lieu of version 1.4.
    3. PASE will appear as the Licensed Program 5722SS1, with the Description Portable App Solutions Environment. An installed status of *COMPATIBLE or *INSTALLED is acceptable.
    4. If either the JDK or PASE is missing, please install them from your OS/400 software discs before proceeding.
  3. Run WRKLIB RJSPDFTIFF to confirm that you do not already have a copy of the RJSPDFTIFF library on your iSeries. If it returns no results, continue to step 3. If it does return results, RJSPDFTIFF has been installed on your iSeries in the past; ask your iSeries administrator whether to upgrade or clear the library and reinstall.
  4. Make sure that:
    1. FTP is running on the iSeries LPAR where you are installing RJSPDFTIFF.
    2. Your account has the required system credentials.
Note: If your account does not have the required system credentials, use QSECOFR or another account with *ALLOBJ special authority.
  5. On the FTP server, make sure that NAMEFMT is set to 1, not 0.
Note: NAMEFMT is set to 1 on most FTP servers.
  6. If you are using FTP exit programs, create an exception or temporarily disable them during this installation.
  7. Make sure that your RJSPDFTIFF license matches the iSeries serial, model, and LPAR numbers. If you do not have a license or do not know if your license matches, view our licensing help or contact HelpSystems Technical Support.
  8. On a Windows system on the same network as the iSeries, download the zipped RJSPDFTIFF save file.
  9. Unzip RJSPDFTIFF_1.10.ZIP to C:\.
  10. Run CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/RJSPDFTIFF) to create a temporary file on the iSeries to upload RJSPDFTIFF.LIB to.

  1. Log in to the iSeries LPAR you are installing RJSPDFTIFF on:
    1. Bring up a command line:
      1. On older versions of Windows, click Start > Run, type cmd, and click OK.
      2. On newer versions of Windows, click Start, type cmd, and press Enter.
        A Windows Console window opens.
    2. Type ftp, where is the IP address of the iSeries LPAR you are installing RJSPDFTIFF on.
    3. Type the user name and password of the account you chose in Before You Install 3.2.
Note: If you cannot log in, most likely either your account has a security restriction on the iSeries or you are using FTP exit programs. In both cases, contact your iSeries administrator to rectify.
  2. Run the following commands:

    quote site namefmt 1

  3. Use the quit command to exit FTP and close the Windows Console window.
Note: You can now delete RJSPDFTIFF.LIB from C:\.
  4. Restore RJSPDFTIFF from the uploaded file to its own library:
    1. Log in to the iSeries.
    2. On a command line, run the following command:
