When you install PDF Writer for Windows, files are added to the Windows\System directory, and
several lines are added to the Win.ini file. The first time you change the PDF Writer defaults, an
[Acrobat PDF Writer] section is created in the Win.ini file.

The following files are added to the Windows\System directory when you install PDF Writer:
  • Pdfwritr.drv
  • Pdfwlib.dll
  • pdfhlp.hlp
The file sizes and dates of these files vary depending on their origin:
  • Capture 1.0:
    • Pdfwritr.drv 370416 3/01/95
    • Pdfwlib.dll 21960 3/2/95
    • pdfhlp.hlp 67858 10/14/94
  • Capture 1.01:
    • Pdfwritr.drv 370576 9/28/95
    • Pdfwlib.dll 21960 9/28/95
  • Acrobat Exchange 2.1:
    • Pdfwritr.drv 370432 8/10/95
    • Pdfwlib.dll 13680 8/10/95
    • Pdfhlp.hlp 67858 8/10/95
The following lines are added to the Win.ini file during installation:
  • To the [Printer Ports] section:

    Acrobat PDFWriter=PDFWRITR,DISK:,15,45

  • To the [Device] section:

    Acrobat PDFWriter=PDFWRITR,DISK:

  • If the PDF Writer is the set as the default printer in Windows 3.X, to the [Windows] section:

    Acrobat PDFWriter=PDFWriter,PDFWRITR,DISK:

  • The first time you change any of the PDF Writer's default settings, an [Acrobat PDF Writer] section is created. This section contains information about the current PDF Writer settings. When the [Acrobat PDF Writer] section is not in the Win.ini, PDF Writer uses its preset defaults.
