These instructions allow RJS Software personnel to manually upload a report sent to RJS Software in a binary AS/400 physical file format. This allows RJS Software to troubleshoot character-conversion problems and other issues that may be occurring with a particular report.

Uploading the AS/400 Save File from the PC to send to RJS

  1. Log in to the AS/400 and use the following command to delete any temporary files in the RJSSPOOL library:

    DLTF FILE(RJSSPOOL/SPOOLSV)

  2. Create a new save file for uploading the AS/400 object:

    CRTSAVF FILE(RJSSPOOL/SPOOLSV)

  3. Send spool.svf to the AS/400 using the following DOS-based FTP commands:
    • Start the DOS FTP: ftp
    • Substitute your IP address for 1.1.1.1 in the following command: open 1.1.1.1
    • Enter the AS/400 user id and password.
    • Place FTP into binary transfer mode: binary
    • Upload the file to the AS/400: send c:\spool.svf rjsspool/spoolsv
    • Exit FTP: quit
  4. Display the contents of the object:

    DSPSAVF FILE(RJSSPOOL/SPOOLSV)

  5. Make note of the Library Saved and Object name values. You will use these values in following commands.
  6. If the library in Library Saved doesn't exist, create it:
    CRTLIB LIB("Library Saved")
  7. If the file SPOOL already exists in the QGPL library, delete it:
    1. Type:
      WRKF FILE(QGPL/SPOOL)
    2. Type 4 to delete the file.
  8. Restore the file SPOOL from the save file to the work library RJSSPOOL:
    RSTOBJ OBJ(SPOOL) SAVLIB("Library Saved") DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(RJSSPOOL/SPOOLSV) RSTLIB(RJSSPOOL) MBROPT(*ALL) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL)
  9. Reprint the selected report using the file SPOOL that you just restored, a specified output queue if necessary, and *FCFC as the Print Control Character:

    OVRPRTF FILE(QSYSPRT) CTLCHAR(*FCFC) OUTQ(QPRINT)
    CPYF FROMFILE(RJSSPOOL/SPOOL) TOFILE(QSYSPRT)
