Problem:

User is getting bad characters within a PDF file created by the Native PDF Report Converter so they are unable to open the PDF file.

Note: the [ and ] signs are being replaced with ^ and !, respectively.

Solution:

The user's AS/400 system appears to be running a non-US CCSID (Coded character set identifier), so they need to run the following AS/400 command prior to running the PDF Report Converter command CPYSPLPDF:

CHGJOB CCSID(37)

After running the converter they can use the CHGJOB to switch back to the original job CCSID.

To display the original CCSID value, the user can run the following command before changing the CCSID for the current sign on session. Look for the correct CCSID (Coded character set identifier)

DSPJOB OPTION(*DFNA)
