To troubleshoot problems when sending email in WebDocs iSeries, turn on the following debug settings so that the email commands create a spool file with the entire SMTP mail session after sending each report.
 
To debug WebDocs iSeries emailing:
 
  1. Sign on to the iSeries.
  2. Add the RJSIMAGE library:

    ADDLIBLE RJSIMAGE

  3. Turn on debugging:
    1. DOCDBG OPTION(*SET) DEBUGOPT(*YES)
    2. DOCDBGPRT OPTION(*SET) DEBUGOPT(*YES)
  4. Manually or automatically email a document with DOCSEND.

    A log is created.

  5. View the log. Depending on your set-up, the log spool file is named either:
    • RJSSMTPLOG
    • RJSIMGLOG with user data *SMTPLOG*

      Note: There is also a physical file named QTEMP/SMTPSTDOUT that contains the entire SMTP email session.

  6. Check this log for errors. Contact RJS Software if you need help interpreting the SMTP session log.
