Use these instructions to create an image catalog on your server to allow you to maintain the Robot products on your system.

Using an Image Catalog

1. Create a Directory for ISO Images

Enter the following command on the IBM i to create a directory for the ISO image (for example, HELPISO).

MKDIR DIR('/HELPISO')

2. Download HelpSystems ISO Image to your PC and FTP the Image to the IBM i

HelpSystems provides an ISO DVD image that you can download to maintain your Robot products.

Follow these steps to FTP the ISO image from your PC to the IBM i directory you created above ('/HELPISO').

  1. Download the ISO image (HS_DVD_XXXX_XXXX.iso, where xxxx_xxxx is the year, month, and day) from the HelpSystems website to your PC. Contact Technical Support for the URL for the download.

  2. Open a DOS command prompt.

  3. Type the following command to FTP to the IBM i system you want the ISO on:

    ftp

  4. When prompted, log on with a valid user name and password.

  5. Type the following command to change the name format to 1:

    quote site namefmt 1

Press Enter. You'll get a message saying "now using naming format 1."

  6. Type the following command:

    cd "/helpiso"

Press Enter. You'll get a message saying "/helpiso is the current directory."

  7. Type the following command to change the local directory (the PC directory where your upload data is currently stored):

    lcd C:\

Press Enter. You'll get a message saying "local directory now C:\".

  8. Once the local directory has been updated, type the following command to turn off message interactive mode:

    prompt

Press Enter. You'll get a message saying "interactive mode Off."

  9. Type the following command to put the .iso image from C:\ into /helpiso:

    mput HS_DVD_XXXX_XXXX.iso

Press Enter. You'll get a message saying "PORT subcommand request successful," then the ISO image will be placed in the /helpiso directory.

3. Create an Optical Device and Image Catalog

Use the following steps to maintain the Robot products on the IBM i.

  1. Create a virtual optical device.

    CRTDEVOPT DEVD(OPTHELPISO) RSRCNAME(*VRT)

  2. Vary on the virtual optical device.

    VRYCFG CFGOBJ(OPTHELPISO) CFGTYPE(*DEV) STATUS(*ON)

  3. Create the image catalog.

    CRTIMGCLG IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG) DIR(HELPIMGCLG) TYPE(*OPT) CRTDIR(*YES) TEXT('HELPSYSTEMS ISO IMAGE CATALOG')

4. Add and Load the Image Catalog Entry

  1. Add the image catalog entry.

    ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG) FROMFILE('/HELPISO/HS_DVD1_xxxxxxxx.iso') TOFILE(*fromfile) TEXT('Helpsystems ISO Image')

  2. Load the image catalog.

    LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG) DEV(OPTHELPISO)

Note: If the LODIMGCLG command fails, do the following and try the command again:

    WRKIMGCLGE IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG)

If the STATUS is IN_ERROR, select option 9, Unload, and then option 8, Load.

    Execute the LODIMGCLG command again.

  3. Confirm that the loaded ISO image is correct by entering the following command.

    WRKIMGCLGE IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG)

Note: If the wrong image is mounted, then enter option 6, Mount, next to the image that you want to use to update the Robot products.

  4. Load your .iso image using the following command: LODRUN DEV(xxxxxxx) where xxxxxxx is the device name

Note: If your .iso image has a date of or after HS_DVD_2017_0915, and after you complete the initial load using LODRUN, you can use execute the HSLOADMGR/HSWRKLOAD command below to display the Maintain HelpSystems Products panel. This command will not be available until after the LODRUN is complete.

example: HSLOADMGR/HSWRKLOAD OPTDEV(xxxxxxx) where xxxxxxx is the device name

  5. Depending on the date of the .iso image loaded above, you will see different options:

If you used the LODRUN command on an .iso image with a date prior to HSDVD_2017_0915, you will see the Maintain HelpSystems Products panel:

    • Select option 1 to display the Install Products panel, which lists the Robot products not currently installed on your system.

If you used the LODRUN command on an .iso image with a date at or after HSDVD_2017_0915, you will see the Work with Optical panel:

    • Select option 1 Load to Install or update a product.

    • Select option 2 Run pre-checker to check if the install or conversion process will go smoothly.

    • Select option 9 Stage to select what products you want to stage in library HSLOADMGR.

Note: When you're finished, you can execute the HSLOADMGR/HSWRKLOAD command defined in step 4 above to display the Maintain HelpSystems Products panel.

5. Unload the Image Catalog

  1. Unload the image catalog HELPIMGCLG.

    LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(HELPIMGCLG) OPTION(*UNLOAD) DEV(OPTHELPISO)

  2. Unload the image catalog entry for the ISO image.
