Problem description / Issue description

In a Windows 2008 environment, logged in with an administrator account, when you start Thinkserver Configurator you get the following error:

Exception executing asynchronous request in the function: 7 Error in operation : Loading thinagent cannot create file Thinkserver\client/TS109/categories.crc.

Context information

This happens in Windows 2008 and posterior versions of this operating system where UAC is activated. This does not happen on previous versions.

Some applications, such as internal line-of-business applications or non-Microsoft products, may require the full administrator access token to perform some of their functions or tasks, but the applications are not identified by the developer or publisher as administrator applications. In this case, you can use the following procedure to mark an application so that the operating system always prompts for a full administrator access token.

Run the program as administrator by right clicking and selecting run as administrator.

Additional information

Additional information

To avoid this problem in the future, it is recommended to set the application to always run as administrator.

To perform this procedure, you must be logged on as a local administrator or provide the credentials of a member of the local Administrators group.

To mark an application to always require a full administrator access token

  1. Right-click the application that may require a full administrator access token but has not been marked as such.
  2. Click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.
  3. In the Privilege Level section, click Run this program as an administrator, and then click OK.

After executing these actions, when you double click the program, it will run as administrator.
