Problem description / Issue description

When you try to start the service "Thinkserver - Java System i Server" so that you can work from Thinkserver Configurator with all the iSeries agentless agents, it doesn't start correctly. And into the wrapper.log file you see these kind of errors:

Cause (optional)

What's happening is that the service is trying to bind to a port that is already in use by some application.

Solution

To solve this, you have 2 options:

1) End the application/services that is already using the port in which you specified that the service has to be listening to.
2) Change the port in which you want the Thinkserver Java System i Server to be listening to

How to know in which port the service will try to start?

Go to the installation directory of the Java System i Server (by default it'll be C:\Program Files\Tango04\Java System i Server\bin) and look for the file JISSConfig.xml, open it with the notepad.

You'll see that there's an entry called Port (by default it's value is 8082), this will represent which port the service will try to bind to when creating the socket.

If you want to change it, just make a backup of the file (just in case) and change its value to the new one.
